Sewanee Women Remain Unbeaten with 1-0 SCAC Win Over Centre

BOX SCORE

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- After 72 scoreless minutes, La'Toyia Slay (Greenville, Miss., St. Joseph's) scored off of a Bess Goodman (Greensboro, N.C., Grimsley) assist to give Sewanee the 1-0 edge it would carry into an SCAC women's soccer win Sunday afternoon. Slay has scored the game-winner in the last two Sewanee wins.

Goalkeeper Britt Williams (Birmingham, Ala., Altamont) earned the shutout in goal for the Tigers and also nabbed six saves. Williams, a freshman, hasn't lost a match for the Tigers and has allowed only one goal in all 560 minutes of all six Tiger matches. She has earned five shutouts and has 24 saves so far in 2009. Sewanee had nine shots on the day, compared to 10 for Centre. The Colonels had five corner kick opportunities and Sewanee had four.

The unbeaten Tigers are 5-0-1 and 1-0-1 in the SCAC. They will host Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps next weekend. Centre is 5-3-1 and is 1-1 in the league.
