SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee, currently ranked 26th for DIII
teams, host NAIA school Covenant on Saturday morning and shut out
the visiting Lady Scots 9-0. It was senior day on the Mountain,
also, and seniors Jordan Casey (Charleston, S.C., James
Island), Shannon Logsdon (Atlanta, Ga., North
Atlanta) and Abby Rudd (Nashville, Tenn., Harpeth
Hall) were honored before the match.
Number one doubles players Casey shut out the Myers/Ramage team
from Covenant 8-0, followed by wins at numbers two and three for
the Tigers to give them a 3-0 lead after doubles. Sewanee ran the
singles table, too, with Casey, Devin Tellatin (St. Louis,
Mo., Ladue), Flume, Logsdon, Derry Roberson (San
Ignacio, Belize, St. Stephen's Episcopal) and Lindsay
Wilburn (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian) picking up
wins. Ashley Macon (Chattanooga, Tenn., Baylor) also
beat Chelsey Schortman of Covenant 6-4, 6-3 in an exhibition \#7
match.
Sewanee is now 14-5 and will play at the SCAC Championships next
weekend.
