CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Sewanee women's tennis team
opened play on its annual spring break tour of southern California
on Thursday and set its win streak at five with a 9-0 shutout of
LaVerne.
The Tigers won all nine matches in the contest and Ashley Macon
won her exhibition match at \#7 singles, too. Abby Rudd
(Nashville, Tenn., Harpeth Hall) and Shannon Logsdon
(Atlanta, Ga., North Atlanta) shot out the Dean/Melero team
in doubles and then Lindsay Wilburn (Hilton Head, S.C., Hilton
Head Christian) earned the only Tiger singles shutout with a
6-0, 6-0 win over Vanessa Vasquez in the \#6 singles slot.
The twentieth-ranked Tigers are 6-2 and are unbeaten against
fellow Division III teams. The Sewanee men and women will both play
at Whittier on Friday.
