SEWANEE, Tenn. –The Sewanee women's basketball team opened its 2009-10 conference games Saturday with a 90-75 loss to visiting Oglethorpe.
Logan Miller (Franklin, Tenn., Christ Presbyterian)led the Sewanee effort with 25 points, including a 7-10 effort from behind the three-point line. Oglethorpe led 43-34 at the half. In the second, OU got up by as much as 21. Sewanee rallied six minutes in with a 15-2 run to pull within eight, but Oglethorpe edged the lead back up to 15 before the end of the game.
Sewanee senior Jamie Robinson (Ft. Worth, Tex., Ft. Worth Country Day) led Sewanee with eight rebounds. Dani Kabbes (Chesterfield, Mo., Villa Duchesne) led the Tiger defense with five blocks and two steals. Riley Cerone led OU with 17 points. Oglethorpe led in field goal percentage 45-26 and had a 78-49 rebound advantage.
Sewanee is now 2-4 and 1-0 in the SCAC, OU is now 4-2 and 1-0 in the league.
