SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee hosted Hendrix in SCAC men's
basketball action on Sunday and paced by three of its seniors,
topped the visiting Warriors 70-58 after trailing 30-27 at the
half.
Ben Pursell (Franklin, Tenn., BGA) logged a
double-double for Sewanee with 21 points and 19 rebounds. He also
had two blocks and a steal. Fellow seniors Kenton Coleman
(Ridgetop, Tenn., Greenbrier) and Bradley Pierson (Rome,
Ga., Darlington) were also in double digit with 17 and 15
points. Cal Rose led Hendrix with 17 points.
Sewanee hit 42% of its field goals compared to just 38% for
Hendrix. The Tigers also out-rebounded the Warriors 46-30 on the
day. Sewane was 9-25 from behind the three-point line and Hendrix
was 5-21.
Sewanee moves to 4-10 and is 2-4 in the SCAC. The Tigers will play
Trinity and Southwestern on the road next weekend. Hendrix is 11-5
and 4-3 in the league.
