Sewanee Falls to Visiting Maryville

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Maryville Scots were on the Mountain Friday night and handed a loss to the host Sewanee Tigers. After getting out to a 1-0- lead early, Sewanee eventually suffered a 4-1 loss in the match.

Freshman Matt Lightfoot (Germantown, Tenn.) struck early for the Tigers taking them up a goal on the visiting Scots in the fourth minute. Maryville tied it up late in the first half on a Daniel Gomez goal and the turned the screws in the second, getting the eventual 4-1 win.

Both teams had 13 shots on goal and both goalkeepers (Gainsville, Ga.'s Johnny Nalley for Sewanee) nabbed two saves on the day. Sewanee falls to 2-3 and will host Huntingdon College (Ala.) on Sunday.
