Sofia Diaz Martinez begins her first year as a member of the athletic training staff at Sewanee in 2025-26.
 
The Cordoba, Argentina, native spent the last two years as a graduate assistant at Troy University, working primarily with football, and was responsible for injury prevention and recognition, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injured athletes. She also worked summer camps at Troy for softball, baseball and volleyball.
 
As an undergraduate at UNLV, she spent time with the football, men’s and women’s soccer and tennis programs for the Runnin’ Rebels as well as covering all sports at Clark High School in Las Vegas. Diaz Martinez volunteered at the East-West Shrine Bowl and the XFL in 2023, The Basketball League in 2022 and Pro Action Dance in 2021.
 
Diaz Martinez earned her bachelor’s in Athletic Training and Kinesiology from UNLV in 2023 and received her master’s in Sports Management from Troy in 2025.
