Cooper Gosch joins the Sewanee football staff as defensive coordinator for the 2026 season.
The Branson West, Mo., native worked the last four years as special teams coordinator and defensive line coach at Monmouth College, with the Scots registering a 35-9 record with a first round berth in the NCAA Championships in 2025. He coached seven First Team All-Conference players on the defensive line over the last four seasons, including the Defensive Lineman of the Year in all four campaigns.
Monmouth allowed 15.8, 14.0, 17.7 and 10.3 points per game, respectively, from 2022-25, with the defense posting 33, 37, 23 and 26 sacks and forcing 25, 25, 21, 27 turnovers.
Gosch spent one season as special teams coordinator and defensive line coach at Nebraska Wesleyan in 2021, with the Prairie Wolves posting a 4-6 mark. He worked five months at Westminster College as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach before joining the Monmouth staff in summer 2022.
He spent three years as a graduate assistant at William Penn University, his alma mater, assisting with the defensive line and linebackers. He conducted meetings and practice group position work as well as uploading and inputting data for all film breakdowns and organized equipment for the Statesmen.
Gosch earned his bachelor’s in Sports Management with a minor in Business from William Penn in 2019 and received his master’s in Sports Management in 2021, also from William Penn.
