Former Sewanee player Hamza Khan C'20 begins his second season as head coach at his alma mater in 2026-27 and his fifth as a member of the coaching staff for the Tigers.

Sewanee completed the 2026 spring schedule with a 22-2 overall mark, including a 20-match winning streak with a 7-2 record against ranked teams. The club won SAA regular season and tournament titles for the 12th time in 13 years in the league. The Tigers won their second round NCAA Tournament match against Colorado College before falling to second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Round of 16.

Khan earned Coach of the Year honors and Samuel Schroerlucke received Rookie of the Year accolades while five total players were named All-League.

In Khan’s first season as an assistant coach, Sewanee registered a 21-5 team mark during the 2023 spring campaign, claiming SAA regular season and tournament championships. The Tigers defeated George Fox in the second round of the NCAA Championships before falling to host Washington University in the Round of 16, ending the year ranked ninth nationally.

Seven players garnered All-League recognition and 12 team members were named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll.

The Tigers posted an identical 21-5 team record in Spring 2024, winning the SAA regular season and tournament titles. Jordan Theron garnered Player of the Year honors, Henry Hyden was voted Newcomer of the Year and five total players garnered All-League recognition.

Sewanee defeated Washington and Lee in the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Emory University in the Round of 16. The Tigers ended the season ranked 14th nationally. Theron and Wicklund finished as national runner-up in doubles at the NCAA Individual Championships. In the classroom, 15 players were named to the league's Academic Honor Roll.

In 2025 the Tigers registered an 18-5 team record with SAA regular season and team titles. The squad won its second round NCAA Tournament match against the University of Redlands before falling to Emory in the Round of 16 and ended the year ranked No. 16 in the nation. Theron garnered Player of the Year accolades and six total athletes were voted All-SAA while 10 players were named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll.

Khan was a four-year letterwinner at Sewanee, serving as team captain as a senior in 2020. The Tigers won three SAA regular season and tournament titles during his career and he posted 39 career victories. The Newnan, Ga., native earned his bachelor’s in Psychology in 2020.
