Sam Mashburn enters his second season as an assistant swimming and diving coach with both the men's and women's programs.
Mashburn arrives on the Domain after a two-year stint with the Dynamo Swim Club in Chamblee, Ga.
Following his time in Georgia, he was the Director of Competitive Swimming at the Twin Rivers YMCA in New Bern, N.C., where he scheduled regular season meets for the YMCA swim team and the USA swim team.
His head coaching experience includes stops at Iowa Lakes Community College (2015-16) and The American School Foundation in Mexico City, Mexico (2014-15). Some of his duties include organizing practices, maintaining budgets and conducted regular season and postseason meets.
Prior to his time in Mexico City, he was a graduate assistant coach at Union (Ky.) College, working with both the men's and women's programs. While working with the prospective student-athletes, he also set up and develop practices for the teams. Primarily responsible for the distance swimmers, he coached several top-eight finishes in the 500 yards and the mile.
Prior to Union, he was an assistant with the West Georgia Swim Club, Mars Hill College and Lanier Aquatics.
Mashburn earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Mars Hill University in 2010 and a Master's Degree in Health/Physical Education in 2014 from Union College in Barbourville, Ky.
