Josh Hill enters his first season with the men's golf program at the University of the South in 2022-23.
He becomes the 15th head coach since 1946 for a men's golf program that begins its 89th season of competition in 2022-23.
Hill arrives at Sewanee after spending the 2022 season as the head men's golf coach at Wabash College (Ind.). The Little Giants finished fifth at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship. Additionally, he led Brayden Weiss to a fourth place finish to earn First Team All-NCAC honors, becoming the first player at the institution to clinch First Team honors since 2014 and the third player in the history of the NCAC Championships to finish in the top-5.
Prior to his time in Indiana, Hill served as an assistant coach for his alma mater, Guilford, in 2020 and 2021. During his tenure as a coach, he was a part of recruiting, tournament set-up, team analytics and was responsible for the golf social media accounts. At the end of the 2021 season, the Quakers were ranked third in the nation, according to GolfStat, and four players were ranked inside the top-50.
During the 2021 season, Guilford clinched a berth to the NCAA Championships with a conference championship within the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The team finished third at the national championships.
He was a part of three Scholar All-Americans and four All-Americans as a coach with the Quakers.
A former three-time All-American himself, Hill played collegiately at Guilford College (N.C.), where he teams qualified for the NCAA Championships in three seasons. Hill played in the NCAA DIII Championships three times while helping Guilford to three top-five finishes including a second-place finish in 2017. During his senior campaign in 2019, Hill fired a 293 (73-70-75-75) to earn sixth place honors en route to the Quakers' third place finish.
A three-time ODAC First Team selection, Hill was also a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the top collegiate golfer, in 2018 and 2019.
Hill earned a dual Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Economics in 2019.
