The
Sewanee Cycling Team is an official USA Cycling club level team that offers opportunities to participate in the Southeast Cycling Collegiate Conference (SECCC) and competes in the conference collegiate cycling race series and collegiate national championships. The overall goal is to help empower students to succeed on and off the bike.
Sewanee’s club cycling team welcomes athletes of all skill sets, from an enthusiastic curious beginner cyclist to advanced or elite-level cycling athletes.
The Sewanee cycling team includes opportunities for both men and women athletes to compete in the following event types at collegiate races among other USAC-sanctioned race/ride events:
- Mountain biking
- Gravel Cycling
- Cyclocross
- Road Cycling
The Sewanee Cycling Team is uniquely supported by multiple sources such as the Sewanee Outing Program, University Athletics, along with private supporters and sponsors.
USAC Collegiate Cycling MTB Race Schedule 2025/2026: (dates subject to change)
Race #1: August 30
th- 31st, at Truett McConnell University (Northern GA)
Race #2: September 6
th–7
th , at Brevard College (Brevard, NC)
Race #3: September 20
th–21
st, at Lindsey Wilson College (Columbia, KY)
Race #4: September 27
th–28
th, (SECCC conference championships) Lees McRae College (Banner Elk, NC)
Race #5: Collegiate MTB National Championships, October 9
th -12
th (PowderHorn Resort, Colorado)
Mountain Bike (MTB):
- (4) total regular season Collegiate races for the SECCC will occur on weekends throughout the month of August and September, at different host sites throughout the Southeast
- Early October: Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships in Colorado.
Cyclocross (CX):
- Regular season Collegiate races (all optional) for the SECCC will occur on weekends throughout the months of August and September, at different host sites throughout the Southeast
- USAC Cyclocross National Championships, December 10-14 (which includes a collegiate category) in Fayetteville Arkansas
Gravel and Road:
- Winter and Spring of 2026. Schedule TBD.
Other opportunities:
- Develop friendships and training partners via organized rides and training workouts.
- It is not required to compete in races in order for students to join the team and participate in club activities.
- Enjoy routine scheduled and impromptu road ride opportunities with the Sewanee Outing Program
- Receive cycling technique instruction/lessons during any offered organized coaching sessions (TBD)

- Cycling kits and related apparel will be available in August of 2025 for purchase.
- You will need an adequate bicycle for the type of riding or racing you intend to participate in. If you need assistance with Bike Storage, please contact the Club administrator (Pat) or team Captain (Oakley).
- There is a separate club fee to be involved in the Sewanee Cycling Team (TBD). Inquire within if such a fee inflicts a hardship to you, as subsidies may be available on an as needed basis.
