SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's women's tennis team faced No. 3 Emory on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-0 on the second day of the ITA National Indoors at the 316 Tennis Center.
At one, Ivy Wilson and Mariella Congeni fell to the No. 3-ranked doubles team of the country, Emily Kantrovitz and Iris Berman, 6-4. Emory took the other two doubles matches, securing the doubles point.
In singles, Congeni lost the first set, 6-4, but came back to win the second set, 6-3 to force a third set tie breaker, but eventually fell 10-8 to Kantrovitz. At two,
Harper High fell to Berman, in another 10-8 third-set breaker. High took the first set in a tie-breaker, 7-4, but dropped the second 6-2 before falling in the match tie-break. At three, Wilson fell to Holyn Karp, 6-0, 6-3, and
Natalie Pumpelly dropped a 6-4, 6-0 match at six. Hannah Davis fell 6-2, 6-2 to Audrey Pogue at five, and
Lucy Lee fell to Rachel Hernandez at four.
The Tigers will face No. 4-ranked Pomona Pitzer on Sunday at the Adams Tennis Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn. at 8 a.m.
