Tallman named SAA Rookie of the Year

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's Parker Tallman has been named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Rookie of the Year for Men's Outdoor Track and Field following an impressive freshman campaign.

Tallman capped his debut season with a breakout performance at the SAA Championships on his home track. He placed fourth in the 1500-meter run, breaking a 16-year-old Sewanee record with a time of 4:01.28—just two seconds off the winning mark in a tightly contested race where the top six runners finished within three seconds of each other. He also claimed bronze in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.31 and ran a leg on the Tigers' fourth-place 4x400-meter relay team.

Tallman joins Centre's David Harless (Field Athlete of the Year) and Rhodes' Hugh Stokes (Track Athlete of the Year) among the SAA's top individual award winners for the 2025 season.
