MIT tops Sewanee on day two of ITA National Indoors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee women's tennis team fell to No. 12 Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday morning in Nicholasville, Ky. on day two of the ITA National Indoors Championship. 

MIT and Sewanee were tied for 12th in the nation going into the match. 

The Tigers lost the doubles point and went into singles down 1-0. 

Brooke Despriet captured the Tigers' lone point for the day with a win at No. 2 singles. Despriet defeated her opponent, Kimberly Liao, 6-2, 6-4. 

At No. 2, Ansley Carpenter lost in a tight two-setter to Jay Lu. Carpenter lost the first set in a breaker, 7-6 (5), and fell in the second, 6-4. 

The Tigers take on Carnegie Mellon University on the final day of ITA National Indoors, tomorrow, March 3 at 8 a.m. ET.
