SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Unrivaled: Sewanee 1899, a documentary film about the Sewanee football team in 1899 that finished 12-0, including winning five games in six days, will air nationwide this Saturday, September 16, on the World channel.
The WORLD channel is a nationwide public television channel distributed by APT (American Public Television). PBS stations may choose to subscribe to WORLD, in which case one of their subchannels is dedicated to the WORLD programming schedule.
Unrivaled: Sewanee 1899 was produced and directed by two Sewanee alumni, David Crews and Norman Jetmundsen, and nominated for a regional Emmy. It has been shown in almost every state on local public broadcasting stations.
The documentary tells the story about the Iron Men of 1899 and their remarkable season that included a 2,500-mile train trip where they played five games in six days, an unheard of feat of courage, perseverance and stamina, that will never be repeated. On the trip the team played Texas in Austin on Thursday, Texas A&M in Houston on Friday, Tulane in New Orleans on Saturday, LSU in Baton Rouge on Monday, and Ole Miss in Memphis on Tuesday.
