ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association released on Sunday at the conclusion of the 2023 SAA Men's Golf Championship the postseason awards. Four Tigers were named to the All-SAA Team.
Using a combination of regular season play and finish at the SAA Championhsip,
Pearse Lucas and
Grayson Maddox were First Team Selections, while
Ryan Demit and
Colin Edwards earned a spot on the second team.
Earning his second straight SAA Player of the Year Accolade,
Pearse Lucas also picks his second consecutive All-SAA selection. The sophomore posted a 17th place score of 220 (74-70-76) at the championships this past weekend. Ranked 13th in the latest GolfStat rankings, the Charlotte, N.C. native leads the team with a 73.13 stroke average in 24 rounds this season.
Maddox earns his third All-SAA honor, and his second on the First Team in his career. The Tampa, Fla. native improved his Sewanee record for lowest tournament score at the SAA Championships with a 210 (70-67-73) en route to a fourth place finish. The senior is ranked 66th in the latest GolfStat rankings, and is second on the team in scoring with a 73.92 average.
Demit collected his first All-SAA selection in his career after earning a top-10 finish at the SAA Championships. The Milton, Ga. native carded a seventh place score of 212 (70-69-73) at GreyStone this past weekend. Listed 73rd in the latest GolfStat rankings, the senior has a 74.21 average in 24 rounds this season.
Freshman Edwards had a stellar final round on Sunday to see him collect Second Team laurels. The Brookhaven, Ga. native moved up to the top-10 with a 71 final round to finish the 54-hole championship with a 214 (72-71-71) to take eighth place overall. In 12 rounds this season, Edwards has a stroke average of 75.75.
