No. 22 Men's Tennis Sweeps Kalamazoo, Covenant at Home

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South men's tennis team picked up two wins on Thursday, defeating Kalamazoo College (Mich.) and region foe Covenant College (Ga.) by identical 9-0 scores, Thursday from the Bruton-Guerry Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED, KALAMAZOO
-Sewanee got out to a roaring start with a sweep in doubles. At the No. 3, Peyton Erck/Noah Holsclaw (7-1) cruised to an 8-1 win. 

-At the top flight in singles, No. 8 Jordan Theron (14-3) edged Gabe Vidinas with a 6-1, 7-6 (7) victory to earn the sweep. 

-Gil Weston (11-3) earned his 10th win against the Hornets' Casey Johnson via retirement. 

-In the series history, the Tigers have won the last three meetings with the Hornets, and this is the first shutout, according to acquired records.

HOW IT HAPPENED, COVENANT
-Against the Scots, the Tigers made it another clean sweep in doubles. Playing at the No. 3 flight, George Thomas Alexander picked up an 8-4 win for the team's first victory as a duo. 

-In singles, No. 49 Liam Selvido (6-2) overcame a 6-7 (7) loss in the first set to defeat Gill Dunn, 6-0, 10-4, at the No. 5. 

-Quinn Wicklund (10-3) earned his 10th win of the campaign with a straight-set dub at the No. 3. 

-All-time, Sewanee improves to 18-0 versus Covenant in the all-time series, according to acquired records. Since 2013, the Tigers have posted eight shutouts in the last 10 meetings.
