No. 16 Men's Golf Wraps Up Spring Break with Ninth Place Finish at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The No. 16/19 University of hte South men's golf team posted its second-lowest score at the Jekyll Island Collegiate with a score of 878 for ninth place in the event over the weekend.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
-Pearse Lucas recorded a 54-hole score of 217 (70-70-77) to lead the Tigers with a 21st place finish. In Friday's opening round, the sophomore chipped in five birdies and finished the weekend with 11 birdies, good for 10th-best. 

-Grayson Maddox finished 41st overall with a season-best score of 221 (75-71-75). Posting an eagle on the 18th to wrap up Saturday's second round, the senior fired seven birdies. 

-Grant Mahaffey chipped in a career-best 224 (73-76-75) to finish 61st overall, while Ryan Demit posted a 228 (76-81-71). 

-Langdon Aronson wrapped up the team scoring with a career-low of 231 (77-69-85). 

-Playing the individual invitational over at the Oleander, Cameron Simons carded a 234 (79-85-70) for a ninth place finish. In Sunday's final round, he ascended 11 spots to finish ninth overall thanks to five birdies.

-Alex Price of Christopher Newport fired sub-70 scores in each round to finish -14 and won the tournament (202) by seven strokes. 

TEAM LEADERBOARD
-Sewanee carded sub-300 rounds to take ninth place at the event with an 878 (294-286-298). 

-The Tigers secured their second-best score at Jekyll Island since 2013. 

-Emory ran away with the event with a team score of 842, good for 22-under-par (283-275-284). 

UP NEXT
Sewanee will return to action on April 10-11 for the Visit Florence Intercollegiate from the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals from Muscle Shoals, Ala.
