All seven runners record PRs as the Tigers place 2nd at UTC Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Emma Grace Hendrickson placed top for the Tigers again, as Hendrickson, Lou Bullock, and Sam Ude placed 12, 13, and 14 for the Tigers as they came in second place at the UTC Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn. on Friday morning.

Hendrickson finished the 5K course in 20:11, a PR, while Bullock came in at 20:24 and Ude came across the finish line right behind with a time of 20:27. Both Bullock and Ude also recorded personal records.

The Tigers had 5 runners who ran under 21 minutes, and all seven runners recorded personal bests for their careers. Freshman Eleanor Graham was 16th for the Tigers in 20:32 and sophomore Clara Earley finished 20th in 20:52. Junior Elise Overlin placed 24th and senior, Bella Francois finished 28th as they recorded times of 21:26 and 21:53 respectively.

"The coaching staff for the entire team was really pleased with the women's results. Having run the same course earlier in the year, we are really excited about how much people have improved, especially to see everyone record a PR or season best," said head coach Mike Curcio. "Seeing a solidified top seven who are gelling really well and averaging 20-30s is an improvement for this squad from the past couple of years. Lou, Sam, Clara, and Eleanor ran together in a pack chasing Emma Grace as our one to five spread continues to shorten. Our performance sets us up with confidence going into the conference championships."

Sewanee posted a team score of 75 for second place, behind Division I school, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and ahead of Dalton State, who the Tigers had lost to two weeks prior.

The Tigers compete in the conference championship on October 28 in Louisville, Ky. at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
