Volleyball Drops Decision at Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Sewanee volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) co-leader Birmingham-Southern on Saturday afternoon from Bill Battle Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee struggled out of the gates on Saturday, recording nine attack errors and a -.030 attack percentage (8-9-33). The hosts took the set, 25-16.

-In the second set, tied at 11 points each, the Panthers went on a 5-1 run to push the lead to 16-12. The Tigers were able to get to a 23-22 deficit thanks to a kill by Macy Gardella, but the Panthers scored the next two points off a Julia Denby kill and a Sewanee attack error to win the set, 25-23, and lead the match, 2-0.

-BSC pulled away in the third set to sweep the match. Leading 15-13, the hosts finished the set with a 10-4 run to win, 25-17.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Lilly Reilly led the Tigers with eight kills and digs each while adding a couple of service aces.

-Sydney White posted 18 digs, while Constance Connolly assisted on 24 of the team's 31 kills and added seven digs and three aces.

BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN KEY STATISTICS
-Alyssa Coats had 13 kills to lead all attackers and posted 11 digs.

-Caroline Johnson and Milea Ray had 18 and 16 digs, respectively.
