Volleyball Completes Homestand with Four-Set Victory over Rhodes

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee volleyball team took down Rhodes College, 3-1, in Southern Athletic Association play Sunday afternoon from Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers came out swinging in the first two sets, out-attacking their opponent, 32-14. Sewanee posted a .253 attack percentage in the first two sets while allowing the Lynx to just a .060 percentage. Sewanee won the first two sets, 25-19, 25-23.

-Rhodes avoided the shutout with a 25-22 win in the third set, however, it did not come easily for the Lynx. Trailing 13-7, the Tigers rallied to take the lead, 20-19.

-The visitors took six of the final eight points to win the set, 25-22.

-Sewanee responded with a strong fourth set to take the match, 25-18.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Destiny Stewart led all attackers with 18 kills on a .255 attack percentage. She also added a double-double with 10 digs.

-Sydney White posted her third straight double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs.

-Peyton Parent dug out 19 attacks, while Constance Connolly added 51 assists and 19 digs.

-Ellie Pedersen recorded 11 kills and assisted blocks, and Lilly Reilly posted 14 digs and nine kills.

RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Heather Antrim led the Lynx with 11 kills, while Mary Frances Daniel recorded 18 digs.

UP NEXT
Sewanee will hit the road for the next six matches, beginning with a non-conference contest with MUW on Friday, Sept. 28.
