SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee volleyball team, down two sets to one, forced a fifth set with the Warriors of Hendrix College, but the visitors rallied for three straight points to take the match, 3-2, Saturday afternoon from Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers took advantage of Hendrix's .065 attack percentage (8-6-31) in the opening set. Thanks to six errors, Sewanee took the opening set, 25-20.
-Hendrix responded with winning the next two sets, as the team recorded four service aces and 24 kills to Sewanee's 19. The Warriors defense held Sewanee to an attack percentage of .041 (19-16-74) as the visitors won 25-23, 25-12.
-The Tigers bounced back in the fourth set, out-attacking their opponents with 16 kills to Hendrix's 11 and a 25-21 set victory to even the contest at two wins apiece.
-After Hendrix's Maddie Tovar made it an 11-10 affair, the Tigers, once again, scored the next two points thanks to mistakes by the Warriors to make is 13-10.
-Following a Hendrix timeout, the Warriors rallied to get the next three points to even the score again at 13. However, thanks to Stewart's kill from Constance Connolly, the Tigers had match point.
-Following the Warriors' final timeout of the set, the visitors came out and took the match away from the Tigers with three straight points to secure the match with a 16-14 fifth set victory.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Destiny Stewart led all Sewanee attackers with 18 kills on a .155 attack percentage. The sophomore recorded a double-double with 13 digs and finished with 19.5 points.
-Sydney White also tallied a double-double with 14 kills on a .194 percentage and 11 digs.
-Constance Connolly added 43 assists and eight digs.
HENDRIX KEY STATISTICS
-Lauren Dwyer recorded a .364 attack percentage on 18 kills and two errors on 44 total attacks. She also added 14 digs and six block assists.
-Jeanette McGrath contributed 27 digs, while Claire Smith added 24 assists.
Sewanee's season-long six-match homestand concludes Sunday with a contest against SAA and in-state rival Rhodes for a 2 p.m. first serve.
