Volleyball Takes Down Centre, Wins 11th of Last 12 Contests

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee volleyball team collected its second win in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a 3-1 victory over Centre Tuesday night from Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers and Colonels went back-and-forth in the first set, but it was the home team, tied 20-20, took five of the final six points to secure the set.

-The Colonels found the rhythm in the second set, thanks to 12 Sewanee errors, to secure the set, 25-17.

-Sewanee bounced back in the final two sets, with 28 kills to the visitor's 11. Holding the Colonels to negative hitting percentages in the third and four sets, the Tigers won each set 25-16.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Ellie Pedersen led all attackers with 15 kills on 21 attacks and an error for a .667 hitting percentage.

-Sydney White recorded a double-double with 15 digs and 12 kills, and Constance Connolly assisted on 43 of 52 kills with eight digs.

-Olivia Nichols tied her season-best in digs with 21, while Destiny Stewart added 12 digs and nine kills.

CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Peyton Vacala dug out 13 Sewanee attacks and had seven kills.

-Bailey Vernon also notched 13 digs in the contest.

Sewanee's homestand continues this weekend with an SAA contest against Hendrix, who will enter the weekend 10-1 and 3-0 in SAA play.
