SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee volleyball defeated their fourth straight opponent in straight sets on Tuesday night, downing the Scots from Covenant, 3-0, from Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Both Sewanee and Covenant came out swinging to start the match, with each team getting a three- or four-point rally at once.
Midway through the opening set, leading 11-10, Sewanee went on a 14-6 run to secure the opening set.
-In the second set, Covenant sprinted out to a 6-1 lead before Sewanee called a timeout, but the Scots had an 8-3 lead to start.
-The Tigers rallied with an 11-6 run to even the score with Covenant. The teams would trade points, but leading 19-18, Destiny Stewart, Constance Connolly and Mason Gardella each record a kill to push the lead to 22-18 before the Scots burned their final timeout of the set en route to a 25-20 second set victory.
-The Purple and Gold held the momentum in the third set, starting with scoring the first four points and got out to a 10-4 lead. The Scots, however, almost pushed the Tigers to the edge with a 23-23 tie late in the set.
-Thanks to a Stewart kill and a Covenant attacking error, the Tigers earned the victory.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-The Tigers finished with an attack percentage of .269 (48-19-108), and they did not have a set attack percentage lower than .200 on the night.
-Destiny Stewart and Lilly Reilly each slammed 11 kills for the winners. Reilly, who committed two errors on the night, finished with a .391 attack percentage, while Stewart, who had four errors, finished with a .292.
-Constance Connolly recorded 32 assists, 11 digs and six kills.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Alexa Spurling finished with eight kills, while Hannah was the Scots' leader in digs with nine.
-Sophie Puertas added 13 assists for the visitors.

The Tigers will next compete in the Roanoke Classic this weekend. They will face Averett and Bridgewater on Friday before wrapping up the weekend with Roanoke and Ferrum Saturday.
