SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee volleyball went four sets with Rhodes on Saturday afternoon, but the Tigers prevailed with a 3-1 victory (25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 25-16) from Juhan Gymnasium.
The Tigers (10-10, 4-7) opened the first two sets with similar 25-17 wins, but the Lynx (9-10, 4-7) avoided the shutout with a 25-19 win in the third set. Sewanee prevailed with a 25-16 fourth set victory to claim the match.
The Purple and Gold recorded a .212 attack percentage (11-4-33) in the first set and .235 (6-2-17) in the second set.
The Tigers limited the Lynx to their lowest attack percentage of the season with a -.024 (30-33-123) thanks to three of the four sets being in the negative.
Destiny Stewart recorded seven kills, 11 assists and four block assists.
Mason Gardella added five kills as well as four block assists.
Owens also tallied five kills, while Claire Crow posted 16 assists and 11 digs.
Sewanee records its first 10-win season since the 2015 season, when the Tigers finished 10-15.
The Tigers wrap up the three-match homestand Sunday with Hendrix. First serve is slated at noon.
