SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 8, 2016) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Oglethorpe rallied from an early two-set deficit to edge the Sewanee volleyball team, 3-2, Saturday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.
Sewanee opened by winning the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21. However, OU rallied in the third and fourth sets to tie the match. In the final set, OU jumped out early to a 6-3 lead before Stephanie Price had a kill. Sewanee would actually pull to within one at 9-8 after a kill by Anna Wilson. Unfortunately, OU rallied back winning the set and match at 15-13.
Overall, Sewanee hit .138 while OU hit .158. Neither team had more than 54 total kills in a combined 374 attacks.
Savannah Hockman and Ashlee Tolbert led OU with a match-high 14 kills. Senior Diamond Stewart led the Tigers with 11 kills while Wilson finished with a career-high 21 assists and 15 digs.
With their home season completed, the Tigers return to action with a 5:30 p.m. (EST) match at Centre, Tuesday.
