Oglethorpe sweeps Sewanee, 3-0

ATLANTA (Sept. 25, 2016)  Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Oglethorpe earned a 3-0 win over the Sewanee volleyball team, Sunday, inside Dorough Field House.

Since conference play has started, the Tigers have unfortunately lost five of their last six matches. Sewanee is now 7-6 overall and 1-4 in SAA action.

After OU won the first set 25-18, the Stormy Petrels took the final two sets at 25-21 and 25-16. Oglethorpe was led by a strong hitting percentage (.188) while limiting the Tigers to a .053 attack.

Senior Diamond Stewart led Sewanee with a 10 kill, 10 dig double-double. Freshman Rebecca Rowan was second on the team with seven kills while Constance Connolly added 14 assists and Anna Wilson added 12.

On defense, seniors Kristy Gray and Sara Jayne Sutton combined for 29 stops. 

Santreece Stephens led three OU players with double-digit kills. The Stormy Petrel outside hitter finished with 12 kills and a .333 attack.

Sewanee returns to action with a 10:30 a.m. (CST) home match against Rhodes next Saturday.
