Women’s Tennis Gears Up for ITA Indoor Championships

NASHVILLE - The No. 12 Sewanee women's tennis team will open play at the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor National Championships this weekend in Nashville. Matches will take place at three indoor facilities: The Ensworth School, Vanderbilt University and Adams Tennis Center (Murfreesboro).

Sewanee will open the weekend with Emory Friday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Center.

WHO'S COMING TO SMASHVILLE: The following teams will be making the trip to Nashville this weekend:
No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
No. 2 Emory University
No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer
No. 4 Massachusetts Institute of Technology
No. 5 University of Chicago
No. 6 Carnegie Mellon University
No. 7 The University of The South
No. 8 Washington University - St. Louis

LAST SEASON: Sewanee is hosting the event for a third straight season. This will be the first time it is in Nashville after spending the previous two seasons in Chattanooga.

In the 2018 Championships, Sewanee finished in fifth place at the event. After falling to Emory, the Tigers won matches against Washington-St. Louis and Washington & Lee to secure fifth place.
