SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's soccer team used two second half goals to defeat the Warriors of Hendrix College in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Soccer Tournament on Sunday from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the first 45 minutes, the teams combined for seven total shots, with Sewanee having the advantage, 5-2, but it was a scoreless contest at the break.
-As the second half commenced, a foul outside the box was committed by Hendrix in the 49th minute. Chloe Thompson stepped up and drained the goal that bounced off the crossbar and landed behind the line for her second goal of the season.
-Despite the 10 shots Hendrix took in the second half, Sam Stocker helped put the contest away with an 81st minute goal for her first goal of the season.
-Sunday's victory over Hendrix was the 100th for head coach Patrick Johnston. Coming to the Domain in 2009, Johnston has recorded a winning season in six of his 11 seasons at the helm of the Women's Soccer program.
-Sam Bourgeois (1-1-0) saved six shots in full time.
HENDRIX KEY STATISTICS
-Mary Helen Vanhoy led the Warriors with three shots.
-Anna Claire Lewis (7-6-3) saved one shot in 90 minutes.
The Tigers have advanced to the semifinals to take on 2-seed Rhodes College on Friday at 6 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. CT on the campus of Centre College in Danville, Ky.
