Symonds Soars to Top 10 at NCAA Division III Fall Preview


HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Sewanee women's golf team competed at the NCAA Division III Fall Preview on Sunday and Monday at the El Campeon Golf Course, where the Tigers finished 10th at the event.

Meghan Symonds had a fantastic second round at the event. Finishing in a tie for 16th with an 80 in the opening round, the Cary, N.C. native jumped eight spots in the final round with a 74, which was the second-lowest score in the round. The junior finished eight-over-par, 154 to finish eighth overall out of 77 golfers.

Natalie Javadi fired a 166 in her first tournament of 2017, while Sophia Morrill posted a 171 in her season opener.

Sarah Battye and Corinne Parrish rounded out the team scoring for the Tigers, posting a 172 and 177, respectively.

Caroline Cole competed as an individualist, and the sophomore finished with a 185 score.

Sewanee next prepares for the Montgomery Country Club Invitational in Montgomery, Ala., beginning Sunday, Oct. 1.
