AGNES SCOTT TIP-OFF TOURNEY PREVIEW: The Sewanee women's basketball team opens the 2019-20 schedule on the road against Maryville and Agnes Scott (ASC) in the ASC Tip-Off Classic in Decatur, Ga.

Maryville finished the 2019 season 13-14 and in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament.

The Scots return the two leading scorers from a year ago, Klaire Varney (16.2) and Libby Gardner (10.9). Kelley Wandell returns as the lead rebounder with 7.4 per game.

The Tigers have won the last two meetings in the all-time series, including a 67-65 thriller last season in Juhan Gymnasium. This will be the first of two meetings the teams will play this season. Sewanee will travel to Maryville on New Year's Day.

Agnes Scott posted a 2-23 record last season, with both of the team's wins coming over Wesleyan (Ga.) in league play.

Garis Grant returns for the Scotties as the leading scorer (11.3) and rebounds (11.0), earning All-USA South Second Team West Division honors.

Sewanee has won the last five meetings over Agnes Scott. Participating in the Scotties' tournament last season, the Tigers defeated the hosts, 59-47 on Nov. 11.

SECOND VERSE, SAME AS THE FIRST: With the Tigers losing 39% of their offense from a year ago, the team will look to other outlets to make this up.

Kinsley Logan returns for Sewanee as the leading scoring from a year ago. The 2019 All-SAA Honorable Mention tied a school record for the most 3-pointers in a season and the second-most in the conference's seven-year history, draining 78.

The Lynchburg, Tenn. native averaged 11.3 points per contest as she was named an All-SAA Honorable Mention. On a national level, Logan finished 24th in all of NCAA Division III in triples, and thanks to a 38.8 percentage from downtown, she finished 43rd.

AUTOMATIC: Ellie Treanton recorded a 77.3% mark from the charity stripe in 2019. Additionally, the Clarksville, Tenn. native drained 39-of-45 (86.7%) in 14 conference contests which earned her a spot on the All-Conference Team as an Honorable Mention.

#Sewanee2023: The Tigers welcome two first-year students to the roster: Kamryn Broussard and Elizabeth Konradi

NON-CONFERENCE GAME TO WATCH: Sewanee will face Johnson (Tenn.) as a part of the Sewanee Hoops Classic, but it will be the first time in five years the teams have met on the hardwood. The Tigers hold an 8-0 advantage over the Royals, with the first meeting coming in 1979.

CONFERENCE GAME TO WATCH: The Tigers played close contests with Birmingham-Southern in both regular season meetings last year. The teams split the regular season matchups, with the Tigers winning in double overtime, 72-69 at home. BSC holds the upper hand in the all-time series, 17-8.
