DECATUR, Ga. - The Sewanee women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter rally after trailing by 10, but the Tigers were unable to get over the hump, as the Lions of Piedmont took the neutral-site victory, 68-64, Saturday evening in the Agnes Scott Tip-Off Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The teams went back-and-forth throughout most of the first half. However, early in the contest, the Tigers posted a 14-7 lead early in the opening quarter thanks to 11 points by Kinsley Logan. Sewanee led 19-18 after one.
-In the second quarter, Sewanee and Piedmont played to 11 points each, and the Tigers took a 30-29 lead at the break. The Tigers recorded four field goals in the period, with Sue Kim dishing out assists for each made shot.
-The momentum shifted to the Lions in the third quarter, as they went 9-of-14 from the field and outscored the Tigers, 24-13 to lead 53-43 after three quarters.
-Trailing by 10, the Purple and Gold started the final period on an 8-0 run to make it a two-point deficit, 53-51, with six minutes left.
-Piedmont tried to pull away with a 57-51 lead with less than five minutes left, but Sewanee stormed back again, this time to tie the contest at 57 thanks to a Logan triple, a Bella Taylor layup and an Ellie Treanton free throw.
-After missing two opportunities to go back on top, the Tigers corralled the board, and with three minutes left, Bella Bombassi found Kim's pass to give Sewanee the lead, 59-57.
-On the Lions' next possession, thanks to an offensive rebound, Piedmont evened the score again on a layup.
-Following a timeout, the Tigers responded in a big way. With 2:17 left, Taylor drained a huge triple to make give Sewanee the lead right back, 62-59.
-With 1:25 left and Sewanee leading 62-61, a Piedmont turnover forced by Kim, followed by a jump shot by Bombassi gave the Purple and Gold a three-point lead again, 64-61.
-From there, the Lions finished the contest on a 7-0 run, including taking the lead on free throws with 32 seconds remaining.
-For the contest, Sewanee recorded 17 points off of 21 Piedmont turnovers in the contest, while limiting the Lions to 3-of-19 from three-point range.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Bella Taylor scored 15 of her 18 points in the second half to lead all scorers. Shooting 7-of-14 from the floor, the senior also grabbed nine rebounds, four on the offensive glass, and recorded three steals.
-In her first collegiate contest, Kinsley Logan went 5-of-7 from downtown, finishing with 17 points.
-Sue Kim added 10 assists and three steals.
PIEDMONT KEY STATISTICS
-Kelly Ackerman led all scorers with 19 points, while Amari Price dropped 17 points and nine rebounds and assists each.
The Tigers will wrap up the weekend tournament Sunday as they face hosts Agnes Scott.
