ROME, Ga. - The Sewanee cross country teams saw three student-athletes earn All-conference honors, as Molly Joseph was named the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year at the 2019 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Cross Country Championships, hosted by Berry College on Saturday.

-Molly Joseph's time of 23:57.88 is not just a personal best and an All-SAA Honorable Mention, but it was best enough to be named the SAA Women's Cross Country Newcomer of the Year. Finishing in 13th at the meet, the Augusta, Ga. native becomes the first runner in the women's program to earn this postseason accolade.
-Ellie Herron improved her personal best time by 31 seconds with a 22nd place finish of 23:34.88 in the 6K race.
-Ann Chapman Haynes finished in 24th place with a time of 24:52.58, while Janie Schmitt posted a 26:20.30 time.
-Elizabeth Chandler (27:09.79), Madison Sellers (27:13.27) and Mary Ackerly (28:18.76) all recorded personal best times at the conference championship.
-Other finishers include Perry Gresham (27:46.62), Patricia Hammett (29:07.57), Haley Hubert (30:10.16) and Jean Tankard (33:51.26).

-After two All-SAA Honorable Mention runs in his three-year career, Ash Midyett earned a First Team All-SAA selection with a third place finish of 25:56.91 in the 8K race. Earning a new personal best by 22 seconds, the Fairhope, Ala. native missed the winning time by 32.73 seconds.
-Jack Barganier earned his first All-SAA award with an eighth place finish of 26:24.48. Posting a new personal best from the Louisville Classic last month by five seconds, the Montgomery, Ala. native earned Second Team honors.
-In his first SAA Championship, Sam Kearley shattered his previous best by 20.8 seconds with a 29th place finish of 27:32.71.
The Tigers will next turn their attention to the 2019 NCAA South/Southeast Region Championships on Nov. 16, hosted by Rhodes College.
