Legrone Runs Personal Best as Cross Country Competes at Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Sewanee cross country teams ran with 32 other men's Division III, NAIA and club teams and 35 other women's teams on Saturday at the Louisville Classic.

Owen Legrone led the Tiger men with a 26:26.88 time in the 8K race, good for 12th place out of 304 other division runners. In the silver race, combined with two NCAA Division I schools, nine Division II institutions and 36 Division III, NAIA and running clubs, Legrone finished 17th out of 400 total runners in the silver group. The time marked a season best for the senior, shedding his previous record of 26:41.5 set last year at Berry.

Ash Midyett ran a 27:37.91 on Saturday, a season best for the sophomore, who finished 63rd.

Jack Barganier also ran a season best Saturday, finishing in 102nd with a 28:12.43 time in the 8K event, while Bram Atkins finished under the 30-minute mark as well with a 29:23.96.

Other runners competing on Saturday include Ben Murray (29:36.93), Henry Fields (31:08.19) and Rob Mohr (31:36.03).

As a team, the men finished 20th out of 36 competing teams in the other divisions bracket.

On the women's side, Anne Chapman Haynes shedded off three seconds of her personal best from earlier this month to finish with a 21:03.16 clip, finishing 93rd out of 269 runners in the 5K race.

Elizabeth Haberstroh came across the finish line two seconds later at 21:05.57, a season best for the senior.

Other scoring runners include Hannah Faulker (21:18.31), Sarah Carlton (21:40.43), Adriana Hibarra (22:30.42) and Evans Ousley (23:59.77).

The Tigers will next run at the Berry Invitational on Oct. 14.
