Relay teams and Nelson lead track and field at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. (April 4, 2015) – Led by strong performances by its relay teams and Amy Nelson, the Sewanee track and field team performed well at the Centre Invitational, Saturday, in Danville, Ky.

The Tiger 400m team of Quentin Jones, Ky-Edward Anderson, Will DuBose, and Cortez Brown finished second. Later on the Sewanee 1600m squad of Davis Couch, Zach Abeles, Alec Hill, and Amiel Emerson also did well by defeating rival Centre.

Nelson continued her outstanding season with a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a new school record toss of 40.98.

In the individual events Emerson finished sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:00.72. Brown then turned in a time of 11.33 seconds in the men's 100m. That allowed the Tiger sprinter to finish eighth.

Additionally, Karagan Day finished fourth in the women's triple jump with a leap of 10.66m.
