KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Monday, two Sewanee men's soccer student-athletes have been selected to the South Atlantic All-Region Team. The teams are selected through voting by member coaches in those respective divisions.
After earning a Second Team All-SAA selection, Schollaert picks up his first All-Region selection after two seasons with the program. The Raleigh, N.C. native finished third in the conference in points with 25 thanks to nine assists and eight goals. The nine assists were second-most in the SAA.
He was selected as the SAA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16 after notching five points thanks to three assists and a goal in Sewanee's back-to-back Texas wins against East Texas Baptist and LeTourneau.
McNeill collects his first All-Region nod in his four-year career with the men's soccer program. The Raleigh, N.C. native was a major part of the Tigers defense in 2019, limiting the opposition to 16 goals, the fewest the program has allowed in 18 seasons.
After his team collected back-to-back clean sheets at East Texas Baptist and LeTourneau, he was named the SAA Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16. The Tigers limited their opponents to five shots on goal in 180 minutes.
In total, nine student-athletes from the SAA were selected All-Region by the coaches organization. Berry, Centre, Oglethorpe and Sewanee were represented from the league.
The Sewanee finished with an 11-5-1 record, earning double-digit wins in a season for the first time since the 2004 season.
