Men’s Lacrosse Heads to Memphis for SAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's lacrosse team, after taking down Birmingham-Southern, 13-12, on April 20 at home in the first round game of the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Tournament, will look to advance to its seventh straight SAA Tournament Championship game, but they will need to knock off the regular season Champions in Rhodes Friday night in Memphis.

TOURNEY BREAKDOWN: The four remaining teams in the tournament: Berry, Centre, Sewanee and Rhodes will play the semifinals and championship in Memphis on the campus of Rhodes College. Sewanee will play Rhodes Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., while Berry and Centre play at 7 p.m. The tournament final will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

ALL-CONFERENCE: Announced on Tuesday by the SAA, seven men's lacrosse student-athletes were selected to the All-SAA Men's Lacrosse Team.

Thomas Lynde, Hayden Hunt, Grant Gilmore and Ryan Stubits were honored as First Team selections, while Will Pratt, Ian Marr and Cal Pearce were chosen as Honorable Mention.

SCORING FRENZY: In conference play, both Berry and Sewanee were tied for the most goals scored in league play with 87 each. Meanwhile, Rhodes, the SAA Regular Season Champion, finished with 86 goals in the six conference games.

Sewanee is tied for third in the league with 200 goals scored in 2019.

SENIOR SCORING DUO: Thomas Lynde and Hayden Hunt are currently tied for sixth in the league in points scored. Each with 49, Lynde has 23 goals and 26 assists, while Hunt has netted 35 goals and assisted on 14 shots.
