SEWANEE, Tenn. - As the clocks sprung forward on Sunday morning, the weather also took a turn from freezing temperatures and many inches of rain to a 60-degree, spring-like day on the Cumberland Plateau for Sewanee men's lacrosse at historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium. The Royals, despite a goal with 7:07 left in regulation, turned the ball over twice in the final minute to give the Tigers a 9-8 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-A defensive contest through the first half, Scranton held a 2-1 lead after the opening quarter thanks to a man-up goal by the Royals.
-In the second, Sewanee reclaimed the lead in an eight-second span. After Cameron Acuff evened the contest at two goals apiece, Ryan Stubits took the face off and ran it down in eight seconds flat to reclaim the lead.
-After an Acuff goal to make it a 4-2 advantage for the home team, Scranton cut the deficit to one goal once again, this time on a man-down goal with 1:07 left in the half.
-In the third quarter, the Royals rallied to take the lead back from the Tigers, outscoring Sewanee 3-1 in nearly nine minutes. A key penalty by Sewanee at the 6:40 mark in the third period gave Scranton the man-up goal with 6:01 left in the period to lead, 6-5.
-Sewanee responded with two straight goals by Henry Burns (3:17) and Acuff (0:24) to give the lead back to the Purple and Gold, 7-6, with 15 minutes left in regulation.
-After Scranton evened the score again with 11:34 on a man-up, Sewanee responded with two goals in a 99-second span. After Jake Vaughn reclaimed the lead, Thomas Lynde found Burns' assist to make it a two-goal lead.
-The Royals added a goal to make it a 9-8 lead for the Tigers with 7:07 left in regulation. However, the visitors had two opportunities to even the contest, but it would be for not, as the team turned the ball over on the last two possessions.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Cameron Acuff posted a hat trick on eight shots, six on goal.
-Henry Burns recorded four points thanks to two goals and assists each.
-Ryan Stubits won 14-of-20 face offs and scooped up eight ground balls. He also added a goal.
-Bryce Womack (3-3) saved 16 shots in full time.
SCRANTON KEY STATISTICS
-Connor Kirkwood and Tim Dolan each posted a hat trick for the Royals.
-Shayne Fallon (0-2) saved 14 shots in full time for Scranton.
