Strong Second Half Lifts Men’s Lacrosse to Win Versus Piedmont

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's lacrosse team used a 9-2 second half to take down the Lions of Piedmont, 16-5, Wednesday night inside historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.

-After Piedmont struck for the first goal of the game at the 8:26 mark in the first quarter, Sewanee scored three straight to take a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes of action.

-The Lions responded with two goals in the first two minutes of the second quarter, including a man-up goal by Josh Cobbina to even the.

-Sewanee's sticks came out strong with four straight goals the rest of the quarter, including two by Thomas Oliver, to lead 7-3 at intermission.

-In the fourth quarter, the Tigers took advantage of a Lions two-minute penalty to score three goals to put the game away.

-Will Pratt and Hayden Hunt each recorded a hat trick. Pratt added two assists, while Hunt posted three assists.

-Grant Gilmore, Thomas Lynde and Hunt added six ground balls each.

-Ryan Stubits won 20-of-23 faceoffs and added 10 ground balls.

-Bryce Womack (2-3) saved nine shots in 52:36 of time in between the pipes.

-For the contest, the Tigers forced 13 turnovers in the contest. Cal Pearce and Grant Gilmore recorded two each.

-Brady Jenks led the Lions with two goals.

-Riley Graham scooped up four ground balls.

-Zach Czulada (2-3) saved 23 shots in 52:36 of time.
