ATLANTA - Sophomore guard Luke Smith has won his third Southern Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Luke Smith recorded back-to-back 20-point performances over the weekend, averaging 20.5 points per game. The sophomore shot 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from the floor and recorded a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. He added six steals and assists each. Smith has scored 20+ in three straight games and in 12 games this season.
Against Berry, the Knoxville, Tenn. native dropped 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting, adding four steals and three dimes.
In the win against Oglethorpe, Smith scored 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting for Sewanee.
Smith leads the SAA in scoring with 19.2 points per game.
The Tigers return to the floor Saturday afternoon for the regular season finale against Centre. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m., following the women's game.
