LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Sewanee men's basketball team defeated Boyce to collect its first road win of the 2017-18 season 83-63 on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the final non-conference slate for Sewanee this season, the Tigers sprinted out to a 7-0 start in the first two minutes of the contest.
-Boyce used a 12-9 run in about a five minute span to cut the deficit to four, 16-12, but Sewanee went on a 9-3 run to extend the lead to nine, 24-15 with 9:39 left in the opening half.
-Late in the first half, Cam Caldwell stole the ball on back-to-back possessions, to which the Tigers contributed with four points, including a fastbreak from Caldwell.
-Sewanee led 50-29 at the break thanks to a 19-of-32 performance from the field, good for 59 percent.
-For the contest, the Tigers shot 51.7 percent (31-of-60) from the field, while Boyce made all of its free throws, making a perfect 12-of-12 from the charity stripe.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Adrian Thomas led Sewanee with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting with nine boards.
-Luke Smith went 7-of-10 from the field en route to a 19-point performance.
-Hunter Buescher added 12 points with five assists.
BOYCE KEY STATISTICS
-Drew McKay led all scorers with 25 points in 37 minutes of action.
-A.J. Caldwell scored 12 points off the bench, while Adam Rabke scored 11 for Boyce.
The Tigers will next dual with Oglethorpe on Friday night in Atlanta as the five-game road swing continues. Both teams will enter play seeking first place as each team is 3-0 in Southern Athletic Association play.
