Field Hockey Opens SAA Tournament Play on Friday

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee field hockey team opens play at the 2019 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Field Hockey Tournament on Friday afternoon on the campus of Transylvania University, as the Tigers will face the hosts in the Pioneers at 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT.

SCORING AND PASSING: Sophomore Buckley Norman has been not only putting the ball in the cage, but she is also giving opportunities for her teammates to score as well. The Warrenton, Va. native is tied for second in assists with six, and with her six goals scored, the sophomore is eighth with 18 points.

CAFFREY CHASING MULES: With 57 career goals, Ceara Caffrey is three goals behind active student-athlete Hailey Mules of Rhodes for the lead in conference history in goals scored. With 16 goals this season, the Scituate, Mass. native is second in both goals (16) and points (35) in the conference.

STEP-UP ALEX: Alex Hornsby has recorded a career-best season in 2019. Finishing with 12 points, the Martinsville, Va. native is tied for second in assists with six. She posted three assists over a weekend series over Transylvania, including two in the Tigers' 6-3 win over the Pioneers.
