RICHMOND, Ind. - The Sewanee field hockey team was defeated on Sunday afternoon by the Quakers of Earlham, 2-0, from Darrell Bean Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Sewanee offense had six first half shots but they were unable to find the back of the cage. Meanwhile on defense, the Tigers held the Quakers to two shots, one in the fourth minute and the other in the 20th minute.
-The Quakers responded in the third quarter. After 12 consecutive minutes without getting off a shot, the home team fired four shots in almost a 2:30 span.
-After three unsuccessful attempts at the cage, Hannah Grushon finally got the Quakers on the board from a Guin Shalck assist in the 35th minute.
-Late in the period, Denise Bergdolt scored the second Earlham goal from a Molly McKellar assist in the 44th minute.
-After taking no shots in the third period, the Tigers had three shots in the final 15 minutes. However, the ball did not land in the goal.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Molly Wheeler had three shots, all on goal to lead the Tigers.
-Barbara Canty (0-3) saved three shots.
EARLHAM KEY STATISTICS
-Denise Bergdolt had four total shots, one on target.
-Meg Murphy (3-1) saved four shots in full time.
The Tigers return home for a two-game weekend series with Southern Virginia. The series begins Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
