Field Hockey Remains Unbeaten in SAA Play, Defeats Hendrix, 4-1

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee field hockey team bounced back from a Monday night defeat to take down Hendrix, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at Puett Field to stay unbeaten in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.

The Tigers (7-4, 3-0) netted the first two goals of the contest in the first five minutes. Emily Sloan netted her third goal of the season in the third minute.

1:38 later, Virginia Barry scored for the fourth time this season to push the lead to 2-0 in favor of the home team.

Alex Hornsby scored the third goal of the game in the 22nd minute on her first goal of the year.

Sloan found the goal for the second time in the contest 1:40 into the second half for her fourth of the year.

Holly Heeb scored for Hendrix (4-8, 1-4) in the 47th minute to avoid the shutout.

Katya Waters (6-4) played 43:25 in goal and saved two shots.

The Tigers will next go toe-to-toe with Rhodes on Sunday. Both teams will enter Sunday's matchup undefeated in SAA play.
