IRVING, Texas - Announced on Wednesday by The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF), four Sewanee student-athletes were named to the Hampshire Honor Society.
Claus, a four-time Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Academic Honor Roll selection, recorded 103 reception yards at tight end in 2018. The Memphis, Tenn. finishes his career with 159 reception yards. Playing on the defensive side of the ball his first two seasons, he comprised 40 career tackles before making the change to offense.
Jacobs netted 8-of-12 field goals and 25-of-27 point-after attempts in 2018. Earning a 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District honor, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the Germantown, Tenn. native scored 153 points in his career with the Tigers, connecting on 28-of-42 field goals and 69-of-74 PATs. He was a three-time SAA Academic Honor Roll selection.
Nadalini was a four-year letterwinner on the offensive line for the Tigers. The Dallas, Texas native played in 37 career games on the front line. In the classroom, he was named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll four times.
Rhys recorded 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks as a defensive end for Sewanee in 2018. The Cumming, Ga. native also forced and recovered a fumble during the year. The three-time SAA Academic Honor Roll honoree finished his career on the gridiron with 23 career tackles, four for a loss, in 27 career contests.
Since the Honor Society began in 2007, Sewanee has been represented five times, including back-to-back seasons. The football program has a total of 22 student-athletes named to the Society.
The Southern Athletic Association saw a total of 32 student-athletes named to the Society, representing six of the eight teams in the league.
Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have:
- Completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2018;
- Graduated players, who have remaining eligibility but will not return to collegiate play (e.g. declared for NFL Draft or retired from football), may also be nominated.
- Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study;
- Met all NCAA- or NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirements; and
- Been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2018 season.
The 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An all-time high of 1,643 players from a record 424 schools qualified for membership in the Society's 13th year.
