Equestrian Opens 2019-20 Season with Strong Performances

Weekend Results

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee equestrian team began the 2019-20 season over the weekend at the Howell Equestrian Center. The Tigers, after finishing in fifth place after competition on Saturday, rallied to earn High Point Team honors on Sunday.

-Freshman Gigi Aiken won the Open Fences portion to start in her career. She also participated in the Open Flat event.

-In her first collegiate show, Abby Walker earned third place in the Introductory Equitation.

-Siena London earned third place in the Limit Flat.

-Senior Caroline Wright posted a victory in the Pre-Novice Equitation.

-Siena London finished the weekend as the Reserve High Point Rider, but the sophomore qualified for the Regional Championships with her win in the Limit on the Flat. She also finished third in the Intermediate over Fences.

-Sarah Buchholz was honored as the High Point Rider after her second place finish in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat and winning the Limit Over Fences.

-Catherine Bratton and Allison Bernardino each finished third in the Novice Equitation.

-The Tigers tied with Murray State for High Point honors as a team after finishing in fifth on Saturday.

The fall schedule concludes with the Maryville Hunt Show on Oct. 26-27 at Maryville, Tenn.
