BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Sewanee baseball team concluded the regular season Saturday against Birmingham-Southern, as the Tigers were swept in the three-game series with setbacks of 14-4 and 3-1 from Striplin Field. With the win, the Panthers join the Warriors of Hendrix College as co-Southern Athletic Association Regular Season Champions.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-After a scoreless two and a half innings, BSC scored two runs in the third and fourth innings.
-Sewanee avoided the shutout with a sacrifice fly by Jake Woolard.
-Leading 4-1, BSC added three runs each in the fifth and sixth to lead 10-1.
-Garrett Liebe brought the lumber with a three-run bomb in the seventh to cut the deficit to six runs, but the Panthers answered with a four-run frame in the bottom of the half to secure the run-rule victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-After a BSC solo homer in the bottom of the first, the rest of the runs in the game came off a sacrifice fly. Training 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Riley Brandvold evened the score by bringing home Bryce Benedict.
-Birmingham-Southern reclaimed the lead for good in the bottom half and added an insurance run in the sixth.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Jake Woolard recorded two hits over the doubleheader with a run scored and an RBI.
BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN KEY STATISTICS
-Brian Williams recorded two of the three RBI in the final game of the series and second of the doubleheader.
-Tyler Wise went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI in game one.
-Hanan Mauldin (3-1) and Andy Hammond (6-2) were the winning pitchers in the doubleheader.
The Tigers will begin postseason play on Thursday, as the team will return to the Magic City for the Birmingham Regional of the 2019 SAA Baseball Tournament. The Tigers, listed as the 7-seed, will face the host Panthers in the quarterfinals.
Joining BSC and Sewanee include Oglethorpe and Berry. Game times for the tournament will be announced early next week.
