-After two scoreless innings, Sewanee dented the scoreboard in the top of the third. The Tigers had some help from the Quakers defense. After Josh Roberts walked to lead off the inning and later advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Carter Huffman and a Jared Demkowicz flyout, he scored on a pass ball by the Guilford.

-Following the pass ball, Jack Galanek earned a free pass, then Trey Akins earned a base hit. With the help of a Guilford error, Galanek scored to push the lead to 2-0.

-In the fourth, Bryce Benedict, with the help of Guilford's second error of the inning and third of the game, brought home Riley Brandvold.

-Leading 3-0 in the seventh, the Tigers, once again, had some help from the Guilford defense. Huffman, who singled with one out in the frame, scored on a wild pitch.

-Later in the inning, after Galanek and Akins reached on a walk and hit by pitch, respectively, Chris McNulty also earned a free pass, but thanks to another pass ball, Galanek made it 5-0 in favor of the Purple and Gold.

-Guilford broke the shutout in the eighth, as they scored on a Sewanee error.

-The Tigers added two insurance runs in the ninth to lead 7-1. McNulty brought home Huffman and Demkowicz on a two-run RBI single.

-In the bottom of the ninth, the Quakers made it a four-run game with a two-run RBI single by Ellis Stokes with two outs.

-Justin Lavender, who came in for starter Trey Holland in the sixth, was one out away from finishing the game, but after the base hit, he was pulled for Danny McDonnell. With runners on first and second, and the tying run on deck, the senior was able to get the final batter, Brett, Shapcott, to pop out to seal the victory.

-In his first collegiate baseball game, Carter Huffman had a perfect day at the plate. In three appearances, he singled twice and earned a free pass. He also scored twice.

-Chris McNulty collected the two runs batted in for the Tigers with his single to left in the ninth.

-Trey Holland, (1-0) who saw his perfect game end with one out in the fifth, went five innings, allowing one hit, and striking out six.
