Baseball Drops Series Opener to Spalding

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Sewanee baseball team dropped its home opener to Spalidng University, 14-1, Friday night from The McCallie School. The series was shifted from Montgomery Field to Chattanooga due to the weather.

-The Eagles opened the contest with a solo home run, but the third inning was a huge blow, as the visitors came across six times to lead 7-0 through two and a half innings.

-The Tigers lone run of the game came on a Josh Roberts triple to score Derek Hullings.

-Spalding responded with seven runs for the rest of the game, capped off by a five-run eighth inning.

-Josh Roberts recorded two hits off the bench and an RBI.

-Tyler Dunbar and Riley Brandvold each tallied a hit.

-Harrison Lee (0-1) started with went two-plus innings, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits.

-Trey Holland did major damage control for the Tigers bullpen, tossing 3.2 innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits.

-Dillon Sievert went 3-for-6 with a homer and an RBI and three runs scored, while Joe Hatcher went 2-for-5 with a dinger and three RBIs.

-Jimi Keating threw 99 pitches in seven innings, allowed one unearned run on four hits and struck out eight.

Due to the threat of rain showers all day on Saturday, the teams will look for better weather on Sunday, as the teams will play a nine-inning doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT. As a reminder, due to other home events scheduled on the Domain, there will not be any live coverage on for either game on Sunday.
